Closet Organizing for Men
My closet is organized completely different than my husband’s closet. I’m going to share my tips to organize a man’s closet so that it will stay that way. Less is always better so declutter twice a year when packing away winter and again when packing away summer.

Organize Clothes by Purpose
First, organize the clothes by purpose. So all the work clothes go together on one side of the closet with all work pants and work shirts together. This makes it easy to see what you are running low on if it’s almost laundry day.
Put all workout clothes together so they are easy to grab.
All dress-up clothes including suits go together and put at the back of the closet if only used a few times a year or up front if used daily for work.
Sleeping clothes or comfortable clothes go together such as sweat pants and sweat shirts and t-shirts.
All the rest can be placed in the middle and organized according to color.
Shoes and Socks
Next, organize the shoes according to purpose with the most frequently used in front.
Then we come to socks. Try to get all the same color, brand, and height so that you can just have a drawer of socks that don’t have to be matched. If he has more than one type, then organize them according to purpose like the clothes and they will need to be matched. Drawers are great for socks, underwear, and undershirts if they fit in the closet so he dresses all in one place.
Accessories
Belt and hat hangers seem to work well too. The belt hanger we have swivels to reach all belts needed. Hat hangers work great to use the vertical space in the closet too.
Hangers
One type of clothes hanger is also nice so that the closet flows well and they don’t tangle together. Get rid of all metal hangers and get good sturdy plastic ones if possible.
Sentimenal
Shirts he doesn’t wear, but are sentimental, can also go to the back of the closet and kept to a maximum of 3-5 that don’t get worn.
I hope you can take at least a couple tips and apply them to your space to make it easier to find what you are looking for.
