What’s Functional Organizing?
Many people think that organizing is making things look pretty as a magazine, taking all the pantry items out of boxes and bags and decanting them into clear jars, or organizing everything by rainbow color.

If people want to do that and it works for them, that is fine, but I usually work with people that are more practical. They want to find what they have and make their houses work for them. They want to be able to find the 10 pairs of scissors that they do have and not have to buy more. They want to know when the almond flour they bought for that one recipe expires. They want to find the snacks they bought at Costco before they expire and they want them to fit in their pantry.
Functional Organizing
This is what I do. I help people make their spaces work for them and create zones and categories and have people keep their favorites. We get rid of clutter so that what we do keep is the best of the best.
Organizing is a process of really analyzing our habits and what works for us and what doesn’t. It is about putting the laundry basket where we are naturally leaving our dirty clothes and not forcing ourselves to bring each piece of dirty clothes to the laundry room each time. It is being realistic with ourselves and our family about what we have time and energy to do.
The Shame
Many of my clients feel shame about showing me how they have been living. They usually keep the living room, dining room and kitchen presentable for guests but beyond that, they would be embarrassed if someone they knew saw their bedrooms or office.
Honored
It is my honor to be the one who sees it all. Don’t worry, I’ve seen it all in my many years of organizing (since 2006). Through the tears, shame, and embarrassment (and hugs) we proceed into those closets that we can’t find the floor (yet) and they get help. Many clients are putting their family and friends first and haven’t had time or space in their lives for themselves. It just all piles up.
Deserving
I want you to know, that if this is you, you deserve more. You will be surprised at how quickly we can go through things and what a healing process it can be to get rid of things that no longer serve us where we are today. There’s freedom in our minds when we let go and rethink our spaces.
This is my privilege to be there to witness this transformation of people taking ownership again in their spaces. Regaining that confidence again and ability to make their own decisions.
It’s really not just about the space, it’s about the family that lives there and making it a home that works for them currently and getting them to live in the present and the most abundant life they desire.
Who are my clients?
I really love what I do every day and I know it is not easy to be the one admitting to needing help, but we are created to need each other and this just happens to be my skill set. My clients are absolutely the most amazing people that are so creative, generous, thoughtful, intelligent, busy moms, who run multiple businesses, have high degrees, are doctors, lawyers, tech people, and have such interesting hobbies and side-hustles.
If you’d like more information about how I can help you, please text or call me and we can talk about it. I’d love the honor of helping you to make your home function better for you!
