Don’t Wear Yourself Out

This is a fun time of year with all the holiday festivities coming up and parties for work, neighborhoods, and friends and family.  It also can be super busy because of that so beware of wearing yourself out.

It is good to make sure to put your must-do things on your calendar and have the others written in pencil so if you make it, great, but if not, it’ll be ok.  I’ve heard people say “I’m already tired just looking at next week’s schedule.”

Be Picky

My friend, Cindy, does such a great job with this that she seems so relaxed during this time of year.  She picks her favorite activity each week and seems to have joy doing that.  She helps with her neighborhood caroling event by baking several batches of cookies one week.  Another week she serves with her church by packing boxes of food to go to the needy and her whole family gets involved in that.

The other weeks she attends other events in the community.  She gets all of her other shopping done and preparing in the midst of these activities.

Each Family Member Gets to Choose

I do like to have my shopping done in November, but still seem to run ragged after all the events I feel like I need to attend in November and December.

I think this year, it is time to take after Cindy and ask my kids and husband what our favorite events are and to just do those.  We won’t attend every parade, craft fair, and Christmas tree lighting.

Maybe we need just time with our family on a tour of lights in pjs and hot cocoa by the fireplace.  More board games and less crowds.

Giving

We should pick one way to give financially or give our time and not feel like we are wearing ourselves out giving to different Angel Trees, Santa boxes, Christmas boxes, coat drives, and toy drives etc.

We’ll just pick one and get a good gift to give of our funds or serve in our community.  We don’t want to end this year resentful of giving to others because we are so tired, but end it grateful of what we are blessed with and bless others.

Are you ready to get your space or schedule organized? Let me know how I can help you get to a more Peaceful Place.
