Is It Worth It to Hire a Professional Organizer?
Are you overwhelmed and unsure what to do about your space? If you feel frozen and drained by your surroundings, it is time to hire a professional home organizer.
It really can be the best investment in yourself you’ve ever spent. Most of my clients have ADHD so having someone help guide them through the organizational process is nothing to be embarrassed about. Their brains are just structured differently.
I love how my clients are very creative, caring, and so helpful to everyone around them. I love to help give them a peaceful place that gives them energy to do what they do best.

Save Time
What I can do within an hour might be something you’ve been putting off for years. Experienced organizers work quickly and efficiently.
It might be a closet floor that hasn’t been cleared in years that the client and I tackle within 1 hour.
What? How?
I don’t mean we just relocate it all to the bed or shove it in a corner. It is actually dealt with. We go through clothing piece by piece, shopping bags of makeup and sort them, and try on shoes. Each item is talked about the purpose it serves and if they really want it and where they would look for it.
I’ve been doing this for over 20 years so I’ve seen it all. I love what I do and can give tons of ideas quickly for what I’ve seen others do with their complicated spaces.
Save Money
You will save money by not buying tons of organizing bins, baskets, containers, and planners that you think will finally “solve” all the problems.
I love to start the process with decluttering the area. Not with buy products.
Once we have gone through everything in that space, we redesign the space for everything that stays in that space.
We think about the activities that you want to do in the space such as a living room is for watching TV, family games, and exercising with a treadmill and dumbbells. Then make zones for each activity and storage spaces for them.
Most of the bins, baskets, and containers actually come from the spaces that we decluttered and we repurpose them. If an organizational tool is needed, I can suggest things according to your budget and decorating style. It is rare that something is needed that is very costly. Many of my clients just want systems that work for their families so a pristine look isn’t in their thoughts.
Save Energy
When I organize with you, I will save you physical and emotional energy. You will have less decisions and less steps than if you do this alone.
Many of my clients can sit in a chair while we go through things and just answer my questions as we go. I can do all the heavy lifting and movement of donations, trash, and recycling and bring those to the destinations. I do work with people with health issues, are disabled or elderly, or who have worked long days.
Once a decision has been made about a certain type of object, I remind my clients of their previous decision about that category to take into consideration with the next one. Sometimes it might sound like “Yes, I said all size small shirts can go. Wait… just that one from my honeymoon stays, but the rest are ready to donate”
Doubts About Hiring a Professional Organizer
But I can do it myself…but have you? Do you want to? Some people might contact me and then hesitate. During that time you could try to do it on your own with a self-imposed deadline of something like the end of the month. If it hasn’t happened, reach out.
What if it is a waste of money? Most organizers will begin with an area that is concerning you the most, so it will have dramatic improvement from how it was before. Some organizers have a package deal that you buy at the beginning.
I just go appointment by appointment like a therapist does. You pay hourly and there’s not a commitment to continue unless you want and need to. I will never pressure you to buy products and only make suggestions. Some organizers sell or upsell products along with their services.
My problem is maintaining it…once it is done, I won’t have the discipline to keep it up. We always start at where we left off at each appointment making sure the previous system worked on is going well, or we tweak it to work better. Some systems work immediately and others need some reworking until they work for everyone. More on maintenance found here.
If we just need to reset an area or tidy it up, it’ll take so much less time than the first time we organized it. So what took 4 hours to get in place the first time might take 30 minutes to tidy up because there’s already a system in place.
I hope this has helped you understand why it really is worth it to hire an organizer. If you are local to the Leander, Texas area, and need to hire an organizer, please contact me.
