What to do with Kid’s School Papers?

What do I do with ALL the Kid’s Papers?

I get asked a lot what I do with my kid’s art and school papers.

When my kids bring home their work, I go through it that night and pull out any worksheets they’ve struggled on and go over that skill with them and secretly recycle any other worksheets where they’ve mastered the skill (into a large recycling bin under my desk).

Then any really good artwork (usually done in art class, hung in the hall at school) or creative stories go on the fridge. I also put any certificates on the fridge too.

When the ones on the fridge are replaced by the next ones coming home, they go into their art portfolio. This is a large portfolio that is divided per year and we can go through at the end of the year and save only the best.

Each kid has a portfolio and I write the month and year and their initial on the back of their papers so they won’t get mixed.

Here’s the link of the current one on the market at Lakeshore and another on Amazon. Each are around $30.

Here’s another option for storing your child’s artwork, school papers and certificates, and also their medical or legal paperwork.  This one has a lot of DIY options to save money.  You can have just the decal printed, the folder labels printed, the folders included, or also the whole file box included.  This is just one of the many sellers on Etsy.  It all can be customized and created differently for each child.

The key is to have a system and use it. Make it work for your family so you aren’t overwhelmed.

If you’d like a system that works for your family, I’m here for you.
